Tree Services
Removal, pruning, palms and 24/7 storm response — all from one Level 4 certified, fully insured arborist team. Free on-site assessment before any work is quoted.
Our Tree Services
Eight specialist services, one crew, one point of contact. Each page below sets out the full method, pricing factors and what is included.
Safe, controlled removal of trees that are dead, hazardous or no longer suitable for the site. Sectional dismantling and rigging where access is tight, council consent checked first, and the site left clear.
Crown thinning, raising, reduction, deadwooding and structural pruning — every cut placed to protect the tree and support healthy regrowth rather than force it.
Palms are not trees and do not behave like them. Sectional removal for tall or awkward palms, difficult access handled, and protected species such as nīkau checked before we start.
24/7 storm and hazard response. A qualified arborist answers the phone, not a call centre, with same-day attendance for genuinely hazardous trees.
Straight felling where there is room to drop a tree cleanly — lean, hinge and landing zone assessed before the first cut. Where the room is not there, we dismantle in sections instead, and the arborist tells you which the site needs.
Shaping and height reduction on hedges of any size, cut to a straight line and taken back to growth that thickens up rather than goes woody. Clippings chipped and carted away the same day.
Full removal of overgrown, dying or unwanted hedges — roots and all where you want the ground back for fencing or planting. Boundary hedges checked for ownership before anything is cut.
Stumps ground out below grade so you can turf, pave or replant over them. Machine access checked first and services located before we start; grindings left as mulch or taken away.
What Drives the Price
Nobody can price a tree over the phone, and any contractor who does is guessing. These are the six things that move the number, whichever service you end up needing.
A 4-metre garden tree and a 20-metre gum are different jobs in crew size, gear and hours on site.
An open lawn allows conventional felling. A tree over a roof, a pool or a power line needs rigging and sectional dismantling.
A rear section reached through a 900mm gate means everything is carried out by hand. Truck access on the street changes the job entirely.
Protected, notable or scheduled trees need consent before work starts. We check first — and tell you if the answer is no.
Decayed, storm-damaged or dead trees are less predictable to climb and dismantle, so they are worked more slowly and more carefully.
Chip removed, logs cut to firewood length and stacked, or mulch left on site — each has a different cost.
We assess every tree on site and give you a written quote with the scope spelled out — what comes down, what stays, whether the stump is included, and how the site will be left. If consent is needed we tell you before you commit, not after. The assessment is free and there is no obligation.
Why Us
Tree work goes wrong quietly — a bad pruning cut shows up three years later, and an uninsured crew shows up the moment something falls on a roof.
Formal qualification in arboriculture, not just a chainsaw and a ute. That is the difference between a cut that heals and a cut that invites decay.
Public liability cover on every job, and a written job safety analysis before the first cut. Ask any contractor for both — plenty cannot produce them.
Auckland protects a lot of trees. We confirm the status up front so you are never the one holding an enforcement notice.
Storms do not keep business hours. A qualified arborist answers the phone at 2am, and we attend hazardous trees the same day.
Kes runs the jobs. You are not handed to a subcontractor you have never met after the quote is signed.
Chip cleared, cuts raked, driveway blown down. Full clean-up is included as standard, not quoted as an extra.
The questions Auckland homeowners and property managers ask us most before booking tree work.
Sometimes. General tree protection was removed from the Auckland Unitary Plan, but trees that are individually scheduled as notable, located in a Significant Ecological Area, on a esplanade reserve, or covered by a resource consent condition still need approval. Some native species are also protected on certain sites. We check the property against the Unitary Plan before quoting and tell you what applies.
If the tree is structurally sound and the problem is size, shape or light, pruning is almost always the better and cheaper answer. Removal makes sense when the tree is dead, significantly decayed, structurally unsafe, or simply in the wrong place for the property. We give you an honest recommendation on site — we would rather prune a tree twice over ten years than remove one that did not need to go.
For a genuinely hazardous tree — on a roof, across a driveway, or into power lines — we aim to attend the same day, and we answer the phone 24/7. Call Us. If the tree is touching live lines, contact Vector first on 0508 832 867; we cannot work near live conductors until they are made safe.
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and complete a written job safety analysis for every site. We are happy to provide a certificate of currency before work starts — property managers and body corporates usually ask, and homeowners should too.
Stump grinding is a separate service and can be added to any removal. Grinding is faster and less disruptive than digging the stump out, and it takes the stump below ground level so you can turf or replant over it. See our stump removal options for the full comparison.
Whatever suits you. Chip and logs removed entirely, logs cut to firewood length and stacked on site, or chip left as mulch for the garden. Tell us at quoting stage — it does change the price, so it is worth deciding early.

Describe the tree and the problem and we will come and look at it — free, with an honest recommendation on what actually needs doing, and a written quote before anything starts.
Plenty of trees that people ask us to remove do not need removing, and some that look fine are the ones we would take down first. The only way to know is for a certified arborist to look at it — which costs you nothing.
